Daniel Hawley's report from the Championships
"The course was steep and challenging with the marked shot on the first day for the unsighted categories. The weather was good for this, which is just as well considering how treacherous it was underfoot on Sunday. Joe took an early lead with 152 scored. 2nd was Paul Clark with 126, and joint third were Laurence Brobyn, Andrew Haggan (The defending Champion) and myself all on 117.

Day two was the unmarked course, which was a lot less steep than the marked, but the weather was worse with cold rain falling throughout most of the day. The target groups were shuffled, so I was shooting with Joe, Laurence and Andrew. All great people and I hope to shoot with them again some time. The shooting was close (Apart from Joe who stormed off into the lead), and at the end of day two Joe had an amazing 212 (A rare arrowhead award for a longbowman) I had 177, Laurence 159, Andrew 156 and Paul 152. Leaving the two day totals as Joe 364 myself 294, and Paul 278.

All in all a brilliant shoot well organised over a superb course, just a shame about the weather"

Joe Lloyd Selected to represent the country. Friskney Bowmen member, Joe Lloyd has been selected by the GNAS to represent England in the forthcoming Field Championship in Wales. Joe, who is the current EFAA indoor champion, is one of several EFAA shooters to be cross selected by GNAS.

Special Report - EFAA National Indoor Championships 25th March 2007

Joe Lioyd 2006 EFAA National Longbow Champion
Janet Lloyd EFAA National Ladies Longbow Champion
Joe Lloyd 2007 EFAA National Longbow Champion
Janet Lloyd 2007 EFAA National Ladies Longbow Champion
Richard Lloyd 2007 EFAA National FL Recurve Champion

Joe and Janet Lloyd, their son Richard and Wendy Rowell represented Friskney Bowmen at the EFAA National Indoor Championships at Redbourne School. We would like to congratulate Joe on taking the Gents Longbow National championship, Janet for taking the Ladies Longbow National championship and Richard for taking the Freestyle Limited Recurve National championship.

We would also like to congratulate Wendy (Compound Unlimited) on scoring her PB and club record in two excellent sessions against GB Team member, Lucy Holderness. Wendy scored 295 for both sessions but Lucy shot an excellent 299 in both to take the title with Wendy finishing in second place, beating last years champion Melanie Wakelin into third place.

Four sessions were shot over the day, with each competitor having to shoot in two sessions. The field was a very high standard with 8 members of the EFAA England team and at least 2 past and present GNAS GB team members shooting for titles. Both Neil Wakelin and Lucy Holderness (just back from Las Vegas), shot very well taking the gents and ladies compound titles and highest scoring gent and lady trophy. Lucy has been selected to represent GB in the FITA World Indoor Championships in Turkey.

Joe, Janet and Richard Lloyd did not seem happy with their shooting after the first session however Joe shot consistently in the second session and Janet's shooting improved towards the end of the second session getting some good ends in. All three deserved their National titles.

The organisers did a good job, especially in organising the refreshments with special mention going to the home made soup. As I was not shooting myself it was very tempting to keep popping back to the refreshment area for more.... The Archery Company had their mobile shop outside and it was good to have something to look around during the breaks. This is the first EFAA shoot outside FB I have attended. It was very relaxed and enjoyable even from a spectators point of view. You can see some photos taken on the day HERE

A club 3D shoot held on the 11th of January was enjoyed by those attending. Unfortunately only 7 members and guests made it on the day. Bad weather in the morning probably played a part in this. Field Captain Kevin Forth and his team put a lot of effort into setting up the shoot for the day.

Results from the Club Novelty Shoot can be found HERE and some photos taken by Malcolm Adams can be seen HERE

Alvyn Kenning, Kevin Forth, Roy Brown, Alan and Steve Grover and Ian Sturgess represented Friskney Bowmen at a NFAS shoot at Castle Bowmen on Sunday 14th January 2007.
