Field Championships somewhere in Scotland

Phil from Gainsborough came up with the following information on Archery Interchange:

The photographs look reminiscent of EFAC/WFAC in last week of July, 1st week of August 1976. I do remember the faces, and the grass in some photos was very parched, and 1976 was the worst drought for years.

If I recall also, Dennis had some fishing gear in his car and fished the lake in the evenings. He did that in 79 in Sweden as well, took fishing gear with him too, in Paul Adams vauxhall chevette I think it was.

If it is the competition I think it was, John Ashburn, an American airman serving in Europe won the world champs, but did not qualify for the European, or was he a Pro, not sure. But Mike Houghton won the European champs. John Ashburn shot the first perfect round seen in the UK, Mike and Chris Jones shot round with him.

The calendar of EFAA champs I remember from that time was
1975, EFAC, Richmond in Yorks.
1976, EFAC/WFAC Scotland.
1977, EFAC, Dunwich, Suffolk.
1979, EFAC/WFAC Darmsdadt, Germany, Dennis organised a minibus for that trip and invited me to join the gang. Insisted I stay at his house on return as he felt I was too tired to drive home.
1980, EFAC, Hindos, Sweden.
