Wendy Invited to Join Carbon Express Pro Staff. Friskney Bowmen's Wendy Rowell topped off a succesful year by being invited to join Arrow Manufacturer 'Carbon Express' Factory Pro Staff for 2008. Carbon Express manufacture the Nano which is fast becoming a favourite with leading target archers, taking away the dominance of Easton's X10.

Wendy said 'I am delighted to have been invited by Joel Harris, Pro Staff Director at Eastman Outdoors/Carbon Express, to join their Factory Pro Staff for 2008. Most of my outdoor success in 2007 can be attributed to coaching by John Dudley and the Nano XR arrow which out performed my other arrows on every occassion I shot them. I am particularly looking forward to testing the new Nano Pro which I believe will become the leading target arrow of 2008'

Tassel Shoot 15/12/07. All members are reminded that their will be a Tassel Shoot in Friskney Village Hall commencing 6.30pm. All members are invited to attend the last Tassel round of the year.

New website feature added - 'Find other clubs' Over the next couple of weeks I am adding a feature to the website that shows Google Maps of the location of the clubs Friskney members shoot at. This is not a comprehensive list of clubs but only a list of clubs that regularly hold competitions at which we shoot. It can be found under the 'About us' menu options or here So far I have completed Lincolnshire and started on Nottinghamshire. If there are any clubs missing or if you think a particular club should be listed then please let Malcolm, Alvyn or Wendy know.

Tassle Shoot 17/11/07 - A succesful club tassle shoot was held on Saturday evening. Results will be posted later today (19th)

SITE DOWN - The data center where the club site is hosted suffered major problems over the period 16 - 18/11/07 meaning that for the majority of Saturday and Sunday the website was only visible to those outside the UK. This effected several thousand websites and has now (hopefully) been resolved.

AGM 7/11/2007. The annual AGM opened with the usual introductions and apologies from those who could not attend. Alvyn had already handed out minutes of last years meeting for everyone to read, so these were accepted.

Malcolm Adams gave his chairmans report including congratulating the achievements of Ellen and Toni Talbot and Daniel Severn for their selection to the Junior County squad and their County records, Joe and Janet Lloyd for this years achievements in Longbow both GNAS and EFAA field with Joe's England cap and National records being the highlight. He congratulated Wendy Rowell on her many County and EMAS records as well as her gaining GMB status in under 12 months. He thanked Alvyn and Ernie for their work in helping to run the club and then spoke briefly about the success of the website.

Ernie Prior gave the treasurers report, needless to say that income was down this year because of the bad weather, however the club still made a small profit.

All current officers were re-elected except for the records officer who is now Wendy Rowell.

A lively debate on the proposed increase in club membership from £20 to £25 was followed by a vote. The prosal was carried by a large majority. So WEF 1st Jan 2008 club fees will go up by £5 to £25 for adults and there will be a £2.50 per year increase for juniors.

Further information was given about the website and those members who had contributed photos, results, reports and other information were thanked. All club members were asked to help by taking photos and updating the webmaster on any achievments.

The new club colours were discussed. This only really affects those shooting in GNAS competitions. It was decided to go for colours that could be bought easily in Asda, Matalan etc and Royal Blue tops and black trousers were accepted.

The field Captain, Kevin Forth, spoke about the new Wood. Facilities such as toilets and car parking are available and it was proposed that Alvyn and Kevin finalise the proposed rental. The insurance was discussed and Alvyn will be investigating extending our current insurance. Everyone agreed that this facility would be of great bennefit for the club, however Janet Lloyd pointed out that without an extension of our current insurance, non-NFAS members could not shoot. Many target members said they would be happy to help out at field shoots but insurance would be required.

Provisional dates were then given for the 2008 diary. See Here

IN AOB Craig Severn proposed that Jenny Marsh be made an Honoury club member because of her work behind the scenes and support of the club. This was carried unanimously.

finally the meeting was closed at approximately 9.45pm

Formal minutes will be produced by the club secretary Alvyn Kenning and the above information is an informal commentary of the meeting.

First Tassel Shoot of 2007/8 Indoor. Saturday 6th of October 07 saw the first tassel shoot of this years indoor season being shot in Friskney Village Hall. Final Tassel Shoot. The final club tassel shoot was held on Saturday 21st of April at the village hall. There was a good turnout of juniors with Daniel Severn, Joshua Rowell, Alex and Jordan Marsh, Wyomie and Shania Redford all shooting. Daniel maintained his current form, retaining his gold tassel with a slightly improved score. Wyomie and Shania Redford both made improvements on their previous scores.

Wendy Rowell shot a second perfect 180 and Pete Nettleton just missed it by 1 point. New members Donna and Melissa Shaw both improved their scores but as far as other seniors were concerned it was a bit of a mixed result, with Malcolm Adams and Trevor Rowell both retiring early and several others shooting below par. The results can be found HERE

Club Tassel Shoot 25th March. It was good to see so many new members shooting at the penultimate tassel round of the indoor season. Full results can be found here. Daniel Severn achieved a gold tassel with 159, building on his continued improvement at the Boston indoor series. New juniors Wyomie and Shania Redford did very well for their first tassel shoot, both getting tassels. Junior member Daniel East shot his first tassel since last February scoring 123 and achieiving a red tassel - well done to all the juniors.

New adults Jonathon Redford, Melissa and Donna Shaw and Elaine Swift all shot very well, special mention to Elaine for doing so well with her new longbow. Wendy Rowell continued her recent success by scoring a 180 to become the first lady to gain a multi-colour tassel.

As usual there was a very tasty selection of cakes at half time. Gladys had made a lovely chocolate cake, but I did tell Gladys how disappointed I was she hadn't made my favourite fruit cake!

Thanks to everyone who helped setup and put away.

New pages have been added in the 'About Us' section covering club history. A scan of 61 news clippings taken from Malcolm's daughters scrapbook is available to read online and includes clippings from both local and national newspapers See Here Also now available to view is the first gallery of historic photographs from 1966 - 2000 these can be found here

A club 3D shoot held on the 11th of January was enjoyed by those attending. Unfortunately only 7 members and guests made it on the day. Bad weather in the morning probably played a part in this. Field Captain Kevin Forth and his team put a lot of effort into setting up the shoot for the day.

Wendy Rowell recently attended a coaching session with John Dudley, a report and some photographs can be found here

Results from the Club Novelty Shoot can be found HERE and some photos taken by Malcolm Adams can be seen HERE

Club Tassel results for the 20th January 2007 can be found HERE

2006 News

The tassel shoot due to be held on the 23rd December was shot as a Christmas pudding fun shoot. 20 members shot at the village hall at targets specially painted by Janet Lloyd. Scoring 5 points for a red berry down to 1 point for the main body of the pudding, this made for a very interesting shoot. Everyone enjoyed themselves and the cakes at half time were particularly welcome. Janet provided spot prizes at various stages of the competition. A big thanks to Janet and also to the ladies who provided the half time refreshments.

Friskney Bowmen appears in this weeks Boston Target (13/12/06) in an article about the Boston Indoor Series.
