Bowyer

Alvyn Kenning, our Club Secretary and owner of Maitland View Retreat , is a bowyer of some long experience. He has been responsible for the fabrication of some beautiful bows, and is more than willing to discuss your requirements if you would like a custom made bow.

Bows range in price from £185 to £300, and can be made in a variety of styles and sizes to suit everyone. All of the bows consist of 2 or more laminations of various hardwoods, and most will have a backing of hickory, a very hard wearing and resilient wood. Woods such as Osage, Lemonwood, Purple Heartwood, Snakewood, Yew and various other exotic hardwoods can be incorporated into a bow. Bows are all finished in a hard wearing, durable and waterproof coating, and have horn nocks and arrow plate
